I have a new favorite book... Along the lines of eating better, I ordered this a few days ago on Amazon. It came today and I swear, I already think differently about eating out. There are so many startling facts about just how much Fat, Calories, Carbs, sugar ect ect... food items from fast food to sit down places. Prepare to never eat your favorite food again.
item instead of another one. For each The biggest thing I have noticed since keeping a daily food log, most restaurants do not provide any type of nutritional value. I found after reading through this book why. Because even the things we think are healthy, aren't. In my BodyBugg blog I gave some stats on foods, and this book does that and a whole lot more. It is a small, pocket size book to take with you. So basically, if you are gonna eat a Taco Bell, it tells you to order this particular restaurant reviewed (tons and tons are in there from Outback to Taco Bell) there are 4 bad choices and the 4 alternatives. Now, it is not to say that the recommended items are healthy, but they are definitely healthier than the others. It is just the coolest book. The worst food in America was title was given to Outback's Aussie Cheese Fries with ranch. That single item has 2,900 calories, 182 grams of fat, and 240 grams of carbs... and you haven't even had your meal yet!!!
You would be amazed how many kids meals, menu items ect contain the entire fat allowance for their whole day in one item of food. I have really made it a goal to keep my kids heart healthy and active. I especially work with Braden because I don't want to put his heart at risk later in life. Could you imagine, his cardio doc would kill us! So, check it out... it was eye opening to say the least. For example, Minute Maid Fruit Falls (kids drink) has just 5 calories and 1 gram of sugar, while Capri Suns has 100 calories and 26 grams of sugar, that is a HUGE difference!
By the way, the healthiest restaurant according to this book, is Chic-fil-A, not one of their sandwiches has over 500 calories, which is amazing for fast food...

Brent and I have made a promise to each other and ourselves not to eat at "fast food" joints for the past two years, and we've done pretty well. We have never bought anything from McDonald's for sure, and it's been easy to give up all the other hamburger joints (except occasional trips to In-N-Out... but really, who can give up In-N-Out??), taco joints, etc. If we do have fast food, it's Subway. But basically we've really made a commitment to eat better, and we've noticed a huge difference, not just physically, but financially, having given those places up. You're totally right. Sounds like a really interesting book. I hope it doesn't say In-N-Out is bad... I can't give that one up. :)
Sounds like a really cool book. I'll have to check it out after popping this baby out.
It makes me feel better though, I ate a chickfila sandwich today for lunch.
I totally need to check out that book! I also heard the best fast food you can eat is Chic Fil A's grilled chicken sandwich! Hope you are still lovin your bug!
I am so interested in that book. I'm going to have to get it. That's really surprising about Chick Fil A. I'll have to eat there sometime.
I keep seeing that book on the Today Show, Ellen. And now after hearing your review, I need to go and get it.
WOW! That is disturbing...Sometimes I don't like to think about that stuff because I love me some fries when I am prego, but I know it is good to know and moderate yourself. Good for you!
That is a book worth reading! (I hate to read). Keep us updated on all the interresting facts! By the way, that bodybug sounds really cool!
Thanks for the info. I know that the majority of fast food is sooo bad for you, glad there is a book that offers alternatives for those days you just don't feel like cooking:)
WOW! I need this book. I think about these things all the time being away for school but I never know what is best. Thanks for the tip!! Hey, did you still want my help with Rhonda's blog? I'm running out of time for this weekend, only have tomorrow, so let me know! I'm happy to help.

Very cool and YEA on Chick Fil A because that is our favorite fast food! Thanks for the health update!
Hey Caryn...thanks for saying hi on the blog. I've been horrible at checking blogs lately so it was great to get caught up a little on yours. We definitely need this book. One of our new years resolutions is eating more healthy. We are HORRIBLE. I've got to start teaching my kids that cookies and brownies aren't ok for breakfast!
Way to go chick-fil-a!! Nice job on being a Christian run organization and better for you!
Plus, hearing about the whole Outback thing I'm glad the only time I went there it was the WORLDS WORST SERVICE!!!!!'cause I'm a sucker for anything cheesey!
