We spent nine fun days at Lake Powell the end of July. We ate good, the water was warm and the weather wasn't too horribly hot. Braden is getting better and better at wakeboarding, he can cut in and out of the wake like a pro. I bet next year he'll start jumping. Berk loved wakeboarding with Rusty and wake surfing with Kelcie and Rusty. Brenner loved jet ski rides, swimming, and wakobarding/wakesurfing with whoever would take him. Most of his tantrums were because he didn't want to wait his turn! There were 17 of us there for most of the trip and it is always fun to see the boys make some new friends. Like Kelcie's roommates, who my kids clung to!
The water level had risen about 30 feet since we were there in June. It was crazy to see it that high, since it's been about 10 years since we saw levels anywhere near it. Aside from my pregnant brain forgetting so many things for the trip- like my cameras (gasp!), playing cards and a bunch of other stupid things- we managed to get by...
All ready to drive over to unload onto the houseboat.
TUBING!
Playing on the 'beach'
Rainbow Bridge
Wake Surfing
Jet ski rides
Playing on the cliff in the cave
Riding on the boat
Swimming!
Braden rocking it at wakeboard- he looks so much like Rusty when he is out there, it's hilarious!
Everybody else wakeboarding.
On Saturday (we were due to leave Sunday) we had our first big injury of the trip. Kelcie was wakeboarding and crashed hard. When we got back to her she was bleeding everywhere. Her friends Sam and Stacey (who are inches away from being RN's) dove in the water with Russ right behind them. It took a bit to see just where the blood was coming from. We got her in the boat and made the 30 minute cruise back to the big boat. Dr. Beck used what he could of the pitiful first aid kits to get her closed up. But not before showing us her skull... Yeh, I was downstairs by that point trying not to puke! She was ok by the evening but we decided to drive the houseboat in to the dock so we could her her some medicine and stuff.
Thank heavens we had a great week. I spent a lot of it on the houseboat reading, watching tv and playing with Brenner.
Thanks again TIreless for a good time. Huge thanks to Sam, Stacey, Meredith, Nichole and Mitch for helping so much with my kids. Oh, yeah, did I mention Braden has a new girlfriend? She's pretty awesome, if he were just 12 years older. Love ya Sam!

A Quick Powell Trip...
Last week we ran up to our houseboat for 4 beautiful days on Lake Powell. There were only a few of us, and the weather was unusually COLD, which meant the water was COLD. But we had fun, and got to see the Robison family a lot while we were there. Here are the highlights!
Brenner was so good on the boat, as long as he had his hat and glasses.
The boys loved helping Pops drive the boat.
We enjoyed our visits at Robison's houseboat. They had all kinds of fun toys. Braden loved the paddle boards. Russ and Rusty did not quite have the skills for it, and they got wet trying. It was so funny.
Of course we wake surfed. And by 'we' I don't mean 'me'. But Kelcie did.
Russ did. And we even showed Blake how to.
Rusty and Berk did.
Blake got the hang of it quick. Ryan too.
Father's Day we were stranded on the houseboat because of wind. It was too choppy to take the ski boat out. We had a nice steak dinner and tried to keep the monkey's from jumping off the walls. Literally. Brenner had more fun 'jumpy, jumpy, jumpy' than just about anything else. Monday we braved the cool (65*) weather to go out for a bit. It was freezing. We have never had to bust out the onboard heater before, but we were sure glad for it that morning!!!
But we made it to visit the Robison's again, and this time Braden took the canoes for a spin.
Rusty figured out the paddle board thing.
One final trip on the tube and we headed into the dock and packed up. It was a LONG drive home, Brenner does not love the car. Blake hitched a ride home with us and I am sure he was wishing for ear plugs about 20 minutes in. And somehow I ended up not getting a single picture of Braden wakeboarding, but we go back for a longer stay in a few weeks, so I am sure I will redeem myself.

Lake Powell 2010...
We were lucky enough to once again head to the Beck's houseboat at Lake Powell. The boys were pretty good in the car, but we stopped in Flagstaff to let them get a snack and stretch. We stayed on the boat that night and pulled out the next day. As the time there progressed we added more and more people, until in the end we had 17 of us on the boat. It was so much fun. (click on any of the photo collages to enlarge)
The pictures aren't in any kind of time order, since after 10 days it is all a blur, but you get the gist, there was a lot of water involved.
We took the kids to a beach a few times. They love playing in the sand/mud and hunting for shells. I am amazed every year by just how many shells there are there. I call them Lake Shells, since it's not an ocean.
Fun times on the boat, riding in, getting ready or getting finished. We love the new boat. The kids did a lot of tubing, usually while Brenner napped so I don't have any pictures. But imagine in your head Berkley saying, "go faster" and "no bumps" while Braden yells, "he wants bumps" and "lots of bumps" and you get the idea of how much fun they had.

Sorry, it's been bugging me for a week. Oh, an wave to people in other boats when they wave at you. It's like boating LAW or something.
{Our traditional Tireless pictures}
We parked at 'our' spot in Last Chance and took right to the water. We've been parking at the same out cropping of rocks for 8 or so years. I am always amazed by Russ's ability to tie the boat to basically a wall of rock and keep us in place!! Now, normally, I am a baby about the temperature of the water, but this year it was sooooo nice. It was Brenner's first trip to the lake, and he loved the water too. The big boys practically lived in their life jackets and had nice burns on their chins to prove it.The pictures aren't in any kind of time order, since after 10 days it is all a blur, but you get the gist, there was a lot of water involved.

Braden was super excited to bring his wake board for the very first year. He had gone to the lake at home once before but this was a huge chance for him to learn, and by the end of the first few days he could get up all on his own. And, it didn't take him long to start asking how to get across the wake. Man alive, I was so proud of him/ scared out of my mind. But he rocked it.
The other fun thing we did a ton of was Wake Surfing. It was my first time trying it and I was surprised that I got up my first go round. It was so fun, I have a billion pictures of everyone trying i, but these are my favorites.Berk also got to wake board- with his Dad
And Uncle Rusty got Jaci up for her first ride.
So, you know we couldn't NOT try to get Brenner on the board. I think watching him splash in the water and just be so excited to be out of the boat was as much fun as his turn with his Daddy.

Berk and Jaci have a tight bond. In the way that one loves to hit the other and one loves to take things from the other. It's totally symbiotic- so in the brief moments where there wasn't total insanity they looked somewhat like this... Thank heavens for DS's.

Uncle Ryan also helped out with the DS playing, isn't that nice?
The boys love the Jet Ski. They would play on it whenever it wasn't being used. And if they were on it, you can be assured they were pushing whomevers hand was driving to make it go faster...

Powell was one of the funnest years yet I think. The Ron Beck family was so fun. We played Nertz, Rook, Presidents, Phase 10 (and Braden won every stinking time), and more. We took sunset cruises. The kids did a mountain of crafts. We ate like kings and queens. Went to Rainbow Bridge and Dangling Rope for ice cream (I left my camera battery behind dang it). Endured some of the stormiest waters yet, including waves from the Tour Boats that soaked the ski boat several times. Can't wait for next year.
And just in case you've never been to Powell (like the people in the houseboat yards from us) let me give you some advice. It's not cool to bring your boat into someones cove and let your boat drift dangerously close to another tethered houseboat while everyone gets off and swims to climb the rocks-right behind your houseboat. Powell is enormous and if a boat is there for that week it is theirs. SOOOO, go around the corner of the cove and find your on dang spot!

Powell Trip 2009...
We just got back from a week long trip to our houseboat at Lake Powell. It is always such a relaxing trip to go on. I love packing for it- tshirts? check. swimsuits? check. sunscreen? check. a bunch of books to read? CHECK! This is the first trip in a long time that was just the family. No friends or extended family. I always think the more come the funner it is, but this was a nice change too. Both boys loved the tube and taking turns on the jet ski. Plus after watching Braden wake board with Rusty, Berk decided he had to have a turn too. It was so cute, he just kept reaching for the rope handle and was so mad Rusty was hogging it! Of course we managed to get to Dangling Rope for ice cream, and I got the cutest hat... yes there is shopping even in the middle of a huge lake.
The weather was cooler than normal, and we had a storm system pass through, so a few times the water was warmer than the air! I hung out on the boat most of the time, but I did escape to do sunset cruises, a jet ski ride and of course play with my new toy CAMERA! I finished three books and in addition I read the camera manual, and learned just a few of its fun tricks and settings. I hope to work on it more with our next trip. So here are a few (of the over 400 I took- yikes!) pictures from our time there. Can I just say that if you have never gone to Lake Powell, add it to your bucket list. The views are amazing and it is such a fun place.
Enjoy my picture overload...
