Tonight after church we fed the missionaries. Rusty made his famous tacos and we chatted with the Elders while the boys ran amuck. We got to drive the Elders back to the church so we could all attend "8 is Great!" The whole primary room was full. So many kids getting baptized this year. Berkley is so funny. He eyed the 8 doughnut treats the second we walked in the door. I can't believe he is already old enough to be choosing to get baptized! October will be here before we know it. Save the Date- November 15th @ 9am.

Opening Day 2013...
It was a super exciting day in our household. Both Braden and Berkley are finally playing the same sport. It's gonna be a challenge with two kids on two different teams, with two games and practices a week per kid. Bring on baseball!!!
Batting and stealing are my favorite things to watch.
Braden is playing Third base a lot this season. He's great.
and later that day we did it all again for Berkley!
Playing third like big bro!
These pictures aren't actually from the opening day, but they were better than those. These crack me up every time I look at them. Every single time.

Berkley- Coach Pitch Mariners
| His very first at bat ever he hit a triple. He was so excited. If it weren't for the mean third base coach (his Daddy) it would have been a homer. Rusty is helping coach, its been so fun. |

Berkley's Trip to the Cardiologist...
Back in October at Berkley's 6 year well child his pediatrician finished the exam and casually said to me, "He needs to see a cardiologist, he has an irregular heart beat." And left the room. While he was getting dressed I had a second to process, and was still in denial. This could NOT be happening again.
As she came back I asked her to repeat what she said, she did and I think I nodded or something. Anyhow, of course on the way home I call Rusty bawling. He did the logical thing, took Berk over to "Dr. Pops" and he listened and thought he could hear something too. I called the trusty APCC the next day and booked the first available with Braden's doc at the PCH office in Dec.
The day came and we pulled him out of school and headed to Phoenix Children's Hospital to the office there. We had big bro Braden give him the low down on the office, what would happen etc. He wasn't terribly nervous, he was extra excited to get to play his iTouch in the middle of a school day.
Height and weight.
EKG- he laid very still for this, thanks to some insightful words from big brother.
I think it is funny that they do the blood pressure on not just one arm, but both as well as BOTH legs. That's why they are the specialists I guess.
After trying to get the stickers off himself, he let Daddy help.
He asked me to take a picture of his "Polka Dots"that he got from taking the stickers off. This was another thing he was warned about from Braden. Pretty cute.
When I scheduled the appointment back in October, I had made the decision to wait to see our regular Dr instead of the first available. That's why it took so long to get it. Anyhow, the night before the appointment the office called and said there was a scheduling conflict and could we please see the NP instead. I flipped my "Mama Bear" switch and said "No, no we cannot!" I am sure you can understand why, but the lady on the phone needed convincing, because he was a new patient with no history there. When I explained that his older brother had 10 years experience there, she put me on hold for about 10 minutes, and when she came back she said it was fine, they would leave my appointment where it was and with Dr N. So, imagine my surprise when after the EKG, some person I didn't know walked in!
He introduced himself as Dr N's NP, and told us there was a newborn baby with a CHD that they were trying to get a bed for at PCH, and Dr N was the one in charge of intakes that day. Of course, we understood, and he told us we would still see Dr N, it would just be a bit. Fine by us! After the exam the NP said he didn't hear any abnormal rhythms. The EKG showed a normal rhythm as well. I had been trying not to stress about the whole thing, but you can imagine the weight that was lifted right then. A few minutes later in strolled Dr N, he listened and listened to Berk. He had him sit up, lay down and listened. He concluded the same thing. No irregular heart beat. He said, our PCP very well could have heard something at the time, but since these types of things are "electrical" (vs Braden's which was "structural") sometimes they work themselves out.
Of course, being Dr N, he told us what to watch for in the future. In case it happened again, but he reassured us that currently Berkley's heart was completely normal. We then chatted for about 20 minutes with the NP about Braden. It is always fun to feel like your child is a doctor's favorite patient. So, I am not sure why we had to go through this little trial but we did, and I have to give myself props for not completely losing it every time I thought about what the outcome could have been. Yipee for healthy hearts.

Misc November...
As I am frantically trying to catch up the blog I came across a series of pictures and realized I need to make sure I put them in. So here is a random collection of our November.
Berkley finished his first season playing with Arsenal, he and Max Robison were both on team Swansea. He learned a lot this season, can't wait to see how his talent for soccer develops.Of course, getting a medal at the end of the season made all the hard work payoff.
We also tried to warm Boston up to baths by giving him an impromptu sink bath. It worked, he loved it and he finally warmed up to the idea of taking baths with his brothers!
Loving the head massage from his Dad!
Each month Berkley gets a project from school, this month it was to disguise a turkey. I looked on trusty Pinterest and saw a grainy idea for a peacock. This is what Berk and I came up with. We liked it so much we did Braden's the same way a week later.
Rusty ran in a Half Marathon for Shun the Sun. He did a great job, and it is just the beginning of race season for him.
Ami and I were faithful Baseball Mom's this season, From scorching heat to freezing cold, fall in AZ can be curious! The late games were a challenge since they started at 7:45 so Rusty and I had to alternate who went to which game, since the other kids were in bed.
Braden finished his Fall Ball season with some nail biting games. I wasn't sure my heart could take many more games like the last 3 of the season! They made it into playoffs and were one game from winning, but lost in a tight game.
Stratton and Braden have been playing baseball together since age 7, they have come a LONG way.

Fall Ball 2012
White Sox
The coach we had was great. Very positive. At the end of the season he gave each player a "game ball" and told a little about how they had improved. Braden has become an avid base runner, he can steal a base before I can even blink! He is much more comfortable in the outfield, but held his own at 3rd for a lot of the season.

Berkley turned 6!!!
After celebrating all week long it was time for his family party. Man, I feel like I have been posting 6th birthday things for a month, oh.....wait. I have.
The long suffering borthday party guests...
He wanted an angry birds birthday cake. I didn't remember to order one, and lucked out at Walmart at 10pm and found this!
He enjoyed it.
Beyblades and Beywheelz make this little man a happy boy.
Happy Birthday Berkley. At age 6 you have developed a soft heart, and are quick to tears when you are hurt or wronged. You play well with all of your brothers and love when friends come over. You would be outside all day long if I would let you, or you can sit and play on the computer for an hour with out moving, depending on the day. You love to be busy, and you still sleep with my "candy corn" (candy cane) blanket at nights. Your laugh is contagious and your smile is amazing. We love you Berkers!

October in Cali pt2...
We did a little research and and decided that we wanted to go to either the San Diego Zoo or the SD Zoo Safari Park. We have been to the SD Zoo before so we thought we would try the safari park. When we got there the parking lot was almost empty.
We walked in and there was a super helpful volunteer that basically highlighted our map and told us what to hit when and where to eat. We went straight for the African Tram tour. It is a HUGE place. Huge. I think I remember them saying 40,000 acres, but that may have been just the African Tram area. It is all so open, gorgeous. But it was HOT!
The first animal we encountered was this Military Macaw. He was funny. He kept squawking at his trainer until she set him down, then he pooped and squawked some more. Boston thought he was talking just to him so they squawked back and forth for a few minutes. We were dying laughing.
The volunteer at the entrance said, "get a picture on the rhino, everyone does". So, we did.
Petting zoo time
My batty boys.
Looking out over the African safari area. The park owns the land all the way to the mountains you see behind me. We took an elevator down three flights to get to the base so we could load up on the tram.
I think this lazy lioness was the boys favorite thing they saw all day.
On the tram tour you get to see herds of animals. It is really cool. But it was very, very hot. We walked a little bit of the loop and went to get some lunch. By that time Rusty and I were done, and the boys were too. We probably spent more time at the play area than we did seeing any other area.
We went back to the hotel, rested and headed to the beach. Brenner and I stayed behind to take a nap but caught up after an hour. By then Jill, Jaci and Cindi had also arrived in Cali. We spent most of the time chasing Boston up a hill.
After a quick shower we went to dinner at Benihana's in Carlsbad. I gotta say, going somewhere where all my kids will eat, and eat a LOT, is rare. But they loved Benihana's. We ordered a bunch of different things and everyone shared. Of course the chef was a great entertainer. When we walked in they told us it would be a 40 minute wait, but then the manager walked over, looked at our group and said "You have a lot of kids, let's just seat you now." Pretty funny!
Brenner was only content after he got my iPhone, headphone, some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and edamame.
Our very talented and patient cook.
The birthday boy got sung to again and then we went back to the hotel to gear up for Legoland the next day!
