A while back I saw this DVD set on Amazon, and I thought, "Hmm, if she can make people on Biggest Loser drop bazillions of pounds, maybe I should try it." So I ordered it. And let me tell you a few things...
- She is just as mean on her DVD as she is on the show. I swear she has a camera in my house when I work out, because when she looks right at the camera and asks, "Are you thinking of quitting?" I swear she is hearing my thoughts!
- You will be sore, you will burn calories and you will like this workout.
- Don't substitute your clingy 16 month-28 pound- toddler for your weights, you WILL regret it!
- I am really glad I am not one of the people in the studio with her on the tape. She is harsh!
So I have tried a number of home workout DVD's. Pilate's, Tae Bo, you name it. What I love about this DVD is there are 5 totally different workouts, for different areas and muscle groups. Plus one is a cardio kick boxing, so if I don't feel like doing weights I can do it instead (not that it is any easier...). I am trying to up my workout/ activities per day so I figured with this even if I go to the gym at night and do just cardio I have done my strength training already. Or, if I can't make it to the gym I have at least gotten some time in. The basics that you need are light weights, either 2 or 5 lbs. And yes, you can get
VERY sore from only 2 pounds. And a step. I just use my couch, or the floor until I decide I am hard core enough to own my own step. I know we are all dreading swimsuit season, but I heard the weather man tonight say temperatures in the 100's are coming... so I need to get myself toned and quick!
Let me know if any of you try it, or have another video you like.

temps in the 100's! Ha, rub it in!! I am going to have to try this video. I am an avid fan of tai bo and I LOVE my Reebok Elliptical too, and my Bo Flex, (I have a hard time staying motiviated with the Bo Flex)
I never stick with home workout videos, but this sounds really great. If you have read my blog you know I'm determined to droop weight and shrink inches!
I love Gillian!!! I'll have to pick this up in a couple months when I can actually do SOMETHING!
Oh, and I've heard you can find used steps for cheap, DI, or craigs list...
This sounds like a good one. I like things I can do right at home while my kids are napping.
Ooooh, I want it! I LOVE The Biggest Loser! Another really fun video set is Carmen Electra's Striptease Cardio. It is so fun, and you can't believe what a workout it is! There are 5 or 6 DVDs, and not only are they fun and good for you, but it's fun to use your new moves when the kids go to bed!! ;)
Love Gillian.... seriously! I have her book Winning by losing that I borrowed from a friend just to give me some motivation towards new exersizes (spelling??) because I get bored really easy. She has in that book a circuit type schedule for 12 weeks and it was awesome! It toned me up real quick. I don't do it now because I am using a trainer at the moment but she is just amazing. Let me know how you like them and I might get them for the summertime when my kids aren't in school!
They sound good...now if only I worked out. I do love that show though!
Yikes! I am scared of swim suit season! I need to put pictures of swim suits on my fridge, and on my tv too, so it reminds me to stop eating and get moving! Sounds like a good workout!
Jillian freaks me out! :)
Before I got sick I was so motivated and did pilates and the balance ball every night which I loved both of those and I was perma-sore. That was 3 weeks ago! Now that I am getting better I'm looking forward to starting again but I haven't had quite enough energy or motivation. So thanks Caryn for reminding me how fast it's approaching! I better get to work! I'll call you today or tomorrow to pick up the necklace.
Hey Caryn, thought I'd let you know that Lauren finally posted!!!!!
I need to get more details from you on these dvds. She does scare me on the show but I need a good butt kicking so it sounds interesting to me. I get so sick of going to the gym it would be nice to do something at home when I feel a little lazy.
I may have to try the set to get these buns back into shape after baby #4. I am always up for a good new video to kick my booty into shape!
That sounds like just what I need after this baby comes. I could you a good butt-kicking. I am impressed you are doing it, she will definitely be talking to me when she is asking if I am thinking of quitting...
I love Jillian! I'm sure I would be scared of her too.
