Well we are five days into our three week "No fun for Braden outside on bikes, scooters or anything else fun" restriction stint. It has been going okay so far. He missed school until Friday, but he is finally NOT walking like a little old man. He feels pretty good but has a nice bruise on his belly.
The hardest thing has been keeping Berk from attacking him, or reminding him that he can't run away when he is mad, irritated at me, in trouble, breathing...(he runs around A LOT). But he is doing as well as a 6 year old should.
So we have been playing Playdough (am I the only one who tosses it once the kids mix it?), Legos (Braden previously told me "I'm not a Lego kinda guy"), new toys (lots and lots o' new toys) and board games.

Aside from his three minute attention span, and/or interruptions by Berkley he plays pretty well indoors. He likes games so tonight we opened a new one, Hi Ho Cherry-O. I liked how easy it was and the simple math he got to practice. But after schooling him and my two year old twice I learned that Braden is a little (lot) like me when it comes to playing games.
I noticed he spun a 2, but put 3 apples away. Next time he had to take 2 out but only took one.
After a very mature "Cheater Cheater Pumpkin Eater" from moi, I have to admit I was a little proud. You see, I may in the past have been flexible with the rules of certain games. Only like when I play Nertz, War, most any card game, Monopoly, Chutes & Ladders, and of course Bunco. Other than that I am never inclined to help the odds in my favor. Ever.
At least I am coming clean, and you can consider yourself warned. But you can't blame me, I learned to cheat from my one of my grandparents at a very young age. Throw in a brother who can more or less count cards and I had awesome mentors.
Oh and don't worry, my Bunco group is well aware of my need to 'take 'advantage' of people chatting when they should be rolling. And they often try to call me out. Just watch out if I sub for you...

You so do cheat at nertz and you know it. Tell B I am very proud!
I love you tons!!!! You're so sweet to visit my blog. You best keep me updated on that baby!!!
Well it sounds like you are doing an amazing job at keeping him entertained. I am sure it is hard for him to not be able to run around and stuff. Poor guy! I also throw out the playdough once it is mixed... lol! It drives me crazy! Take it easy!
haha that is so funny that he was cheating :) i've never seen you cheat at bunco..i've only heard! haha! oh and um...are you prego? whats the baby counter on your page?! how come i didn't know this?!
Now that I really think about it, my 10 year-old would have done okay with the 3 week thing! He (especially when he was 6) is an avid reader, and IS a "lego kinda guy". He can play with lego sets for hours. Then again, once a kid HAS to take it easy and not run around, it probably really stands out how much they normally horse around. My 4 year old, now that would be a challenge! He'll try to jump down adults and wrestle them around. It sounds like you've been doing a great job, though, at keeping things as fun as possible for him!
Hi-Ho Cherry-O brings back some memories of the old gang! Me, Kelcie and Mary. I remember playing that at the Beck's I think..
Ha that's funny! You are the sneakiest cheater I know but I love you for it! I'm such a loser I was totally oblivious to all that was going on with you. I'm so sorry! You are such a trooper though!
CARYN CARYN since you felt the urge to let us all in on your little secret I am going to very openly take the opportunity to talk a little trash. If you would ever be so inclined to get your trash kicked in nertz feel free to give me a call! I am fairly confident that I can beat you even if you are in fact a cheater! ahah
Poor thing he's such a trooper. I can't believe how much it takes to keep a kid entertained. Hope the rest of the two plus weeks go smoothly.
Hey Caryn, check out this blog post: http://weheartlewis.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2009-02-24T11%3A10%3A00-08%3A00&max-results=7
I know you like to connect with other heart babies. This blog belongs to the best friend of one of our good friends in the ward, Kort Chase. The baby was just born 2 weeks ago and he has already had open heart surgery. They might find it comforting to hear from a mom like you who has gone through this and has a happy, healthy, active boy.
