The list was as follows...
- Stop giving him bottles
- Take Paci away
- Put him in a big boy bed
- Potty training
Well, I dreaded taking away his precious "babas" so I did it kinda sneaky. After he went to bed I put them all in a bag and hid them. And when ever he would ask for one I would give him cold milk in a sippie. He wasn't so sure until I called them "big babas". Now it has been almost two weeks and he really hasn't even noticed the babas are gone! Yeah!
I am working on my next goal, #3 right now. Instead of giving up the other room upstairs, my office, to the baby I decided to put Braden and Berk together and keep the nursery a nursery. So that meant in addition to learning to sleep in a big boy bed, he (and Braden) would have to learn to share a bed and a room! Last night was the first night of it. There was only about 30 trips upand down the stairs between the boys and Rusty & I. Berk just couldn't seem to fathom that he gets to sleep in "Baden bed." But by 9 they were both out, and Berk slept till 6 before wanting to come in our bed. I pray that by summer this will be the norm!
The paci thing is tricky. We have a lot of long car trips this summer, but I also refuse to have two kids with paci's at the same time, so it is low on my priority list right now. And as far as potty training, while he thinks the potty is a fun place to sit, he has zero desire to do more than just sit. Unless he can have a drink and a sucker, that's fine too. So I figure I have until October when he starts preschool to really work on this. But I do feel really hopeful that I have at least ONE of the things checked off my list!

Do I see a Red Robin cup in that picture? We've got a few of those floating around too....
Good luck with the potty training. I'm avoiding it until after my next baby. No, not an announcement. Let's hope the next baby comes soon though, so Rylie won't be 5 and not potty trained!
Love that they are gonna share a room. how fun for them!
Good for Berkers! No baba that's awesome!
You just need to do what I did with the paci & get rid of it! It'll be bad for a while then he'll be over it.
Good luck with potty training! I need to do that with Miss Yazee....
I love your checklist! :)
It's funny how kids can get used to certain things after awhile. My three boys all sleep in the same room at night, and they're used to it. HOWEVER, if I put the two young ones in the same room for a nap, there's NO NAPPING going on!
If it makes you feel anybetter, I am not having a lot of success with my two little ones in the potty department. Hopefully the light clicks on soon.
Congratulations on another boy! You will be sainted! I have no doubts! :)
Congrats on the checklist...one step at a time! It will all happen at some point right.
I need to send over some inspiring toilet time books. It's worked for my boys. Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see? Hopefully a little treat in the potty. That was bad!
That potty pic is so cute!! Yes, I heard that Kristie has boy/girl twins on the way, and I am SOOOOOO excited for her! She is going to be the best Mommy.
Hey Cary, looks like we have the SAME IDEAS going! There must be a time crunch!! I just took Baylee's pacifier and bottle away, and got her a "big girl bed" last week. The pottly training thing....yeah, not for a while! I did the same thing with her bottles, and she went 2 days without drinking (except sips of my Diet Coke) until she finally gave in and drank out of a sippie cup!
sounds like your doing pretty good with your checklist. I too need to do some of those, like the baba and potty training. At least he will sit on the potty, alex screams and cries when i try to put him on it! lol
We just put Nadia in a big bed (skipped the toddler bed) and she LOVES it. It wasn't hard at all. She's also potty-trained and it didn't seem nearly as hard as Forrest seemed. And none of my kids ever take pacifiers. I wish they would sometimes, but at least I don't have the break them of the habit. And I was thinking of starting Marek on sipper cups now, instead of bottles, because bottles are to easy to put him to bed with, which I know I shouldn't do. But anyway, good luck with all of this!
