Alright, I did it. I bought tickets to go to my 10 year High School reunion. I was really undecided and since we didn't go to Rusty's last year I knew I would regret not going. I was one of those people who loved school, got decent grades, did chorus and track and had amazing friends. Heck, I met my hubby in HS, so why would I not want to go? And yet I could NOT decide! So I want to know, are you going Class of '98? Or, even if you aren't a fellowToro, did you go to your own?
(End of the school year...No I wasn't really on cheer, that took actual talent and flexibility... but we did have some fun times. If you have never seen our dance video from this night, sad for you. It will always make me laugh and laugh.)Thanks to blogs, webpages, myspace-- it is
so much easier to track down classmates. But I still think it will be fun to go and see everyone and meet their spouses. I mean it will be so awkward to run into old High School crushes and boyfriends ...Ohhhhhh, that's right, I married mine. So, I guess it will only be awkward for the rest of you! Ha. Thanks to
Cara or giving me the little coaxing I needed to go and to
Kendee for marrying one of Rusty's classmates and buddies so he will have someone to hang out with. I look forward to seeing everyone! So in honor of this upcoming blast from the past, I thought I would humor you with some of my favorite senior year photos... Enjoy!

Seminary Graduation: The Gang of Us (above) & Me, Ami & Becky (below)
Track- they best of times with Alison & Brooke
Carving pumpkins- kinda funny right now, huh Al??? If we only knew how much our prego bellies would really look like this!
And the Hello Dance, and a mass of the Senior Girls...
Oh man, going through those 6 (
yikes!) scrapbooks of HS brought a little smile to my face! And on another random note, looking through I found the pictures from when I flew to the SLC Airport to see Rusty leave the MTC to head to the mission in Colombia, and it was exactly ten years ago yesterday! How random!
(And I don't wanna hear about how I shouldn't have been hugging him...) Considering it was like 5 am, and the day after my senior prom, I think I held it together pretty well...

Good for you! I hope you have fun. There is no way in heck I am going. Liz keeps trying to convince me to go, and I keep telling her that I don't care about anybody but her and my choir friends, who I still see all the time since we have an informal reunion every year at Christmas. The real reason though, is I don't want to go back (cough) pounds heavier than I was then. Alas.
I think if Braden is reading and seems interested in music, that Fall might be a good time to start him. I usually recommend waiting til 7 years of age but that is just an average. I am teaching a 5 year old right now who is GENIUS. Every kid is different. Being able to read is incredibly helpful though. And of course, the PARENT is the main indicator of success or failure. If the parent is supportive, sets aside practice time (and actually uses that time for practice even if the child says he doesn't want to!), and is encouraging, the child will be successful. And the fact that you have a lot of musical knowledge will also give Braden a huge boost. Let me know if you want help on choosing a teacher. Make sure they are a member of the professional organization -www.asmta.org is our state website where you can do a teacher search (I'm the webmaster!). I'm on the state and local board so I've got access to any info you'd need-phone #s, emails, addresses, etc. Let me know what you decide!
How fun are those pictures! I would never show my pictures of my high school days! SCAREY! All you girls were and are darling! Only your 10 year! I cant even remember my 10 year! You're a baby!
Love the photo's Caryn. We went to Cam's 10 year reunion a few years ago and had a great time. He got put in charge of planning the 20 year reunion. Yikes!
I went to my '16' year reunion in March. There were five people there. Probably the only reason I went is because my friend had worked so hard to put it together. But, my 10 year reunion was a huge success. People flew in from all over the country. Good luck and have fun!!
YAY!!! I am so glad you are going. I have to go in my whale-ish state and all so I am glad I will have friends there. I love that you scanned these pics and posted them. We had some good times...oh the memories!
at least you didn't post the picture of you kissing him =)
Very funny Naqui! His whole family was there too, don't forget. Even from a million miles away you are a stinker!
I totally remember that pic of you and Rusty being in your room. You won't regret going! I didn't go to mine, because everyone I cared to see...well...I see so it wasn't a big deal! You're going to have a blast!
Caryn I still don't know if I'm going. I'm afraid I'll regret it if I don't. I love all those old pictures. Oh, the memories.
My class was always bad at planning things, so we didn't really have a 10 year reunion. Nobody thought about it soon enough to invite people. Supposedly, we're going to have a belated 10 year reunion (aka 11 years) this summer, but I haven't heard anything for sure. I'm assuming no one will get around to planning it this year, either.
How Fun!!! Wow, I really don't remember Rusty like that, hahaha! Hey, so Kelcie commented me and I dont know how to find her!! Where is she on this blog stuff?
Too funny! I love high school memories!! I snagged my man in HS too, it's so fun to look back...and smile. Oh how life was so much easier then!
Your blog is so great! Good job.....you are very talented, you know! Please give me some pointers since I'm a novice. I love the HS pics. You're so darling. It takes me back, especially seeing you and Rusty at the airport pre-mission. Can you believe we both survived that experience?
I love all the high school pics you posted! I had no idea that you've known Rusty that long! Sounds like you have some great memories of that time, and your reunion will be tons of fun!
You'll have a good time and the pics cracked me up! You would regret not going. You were the one who went to ALL of the dances and participated in everything. Me...I was forcefully dragged to mine and I would've been fine without it. I don't regret many things and missing that wouldn't have been one of them. But, it was kinda cool seeing some of the people.
I loved seeing the old high school pictures. I'm sure you will have a blast at your reunion and you will be glad you went.
I missed mine last year because I was (and am still) on the other side of the world, lol! I wish that I could have gone though. Don't miss it. You will regret it, just think the next one will be at what 20 years? By then, we will all be old and fat and won't want anyone to see us right? Ha ha ha ha ha! Just kidding! You should go though. To refresh your memory... Liz Morrey (and yes she lived on Floyd drive), Emily Maughan (lived next door to Kim) and Sherrie Wallace! I remember playing in the snow too! Oh the memories!
Love the pics Caryn! Yes, those were the good old days! Such fun memories, esp. at track, and dances.
I don't think I'll be going, since I have a nursing baby and really don't have a brave enough soul to try and baby sit! I wish I could go though!
I hope I dont' regret it! Oh and at our 20 year, I will have a 17 year old. Is that crazy or what?
Caryn I love the pics, thanks for the trip down memory lane. Fun times! The reunion will be great and I am bummed I can't make it. You will have to take a ton of pics.
You will have fun, the ten year reunion is more about people being settled into who they are, less about "look at how successful I am and how fabulous I look" (that is what the 5 year is for).
Plus it was fun to go with Russ and see people react. Of course it was mostly...how in the heck did they end up together!
Love the fact that even though the pics are small, I can find you just by your lovely "dancers" smile!
oh my gosh caryn!!! that really as a trip down memory lane! we did have some great times. i haven't seen those pics SINCE high school so thanks for taking the time to share.
i just bought my tickets for the reunion...it's a once in a lifetime thing i think you gotta make yourself do!
Hey Cary, those pics. are hilarious! I just love little trips down memory lane! Unfortunately, I will be lying on the beach during the reunion (who can pass up a beach house for a week?) So enjoy! By the way, I saw your mom at the temple last night! She is such a sweetie!
This summer would be our five year... so far I've only heard rumors. Must be a Duchesne thing. But I have some work to do if it is, as Robyn said, the reunion to show how successful I am and how fabulous I look! :)
Oh man, am I the only one who really doesn't care to go? I'll go if Cara makes me. (she's already threatened my life, lol) By the way, I hate that picture. I'll have to see if I have a better one of us from graduation!
I went to my reunion last year. It was cool. I thought it would be all weird but it wasn't. It made it feel like highschool was yesterday.
That's awesome Caryn! I love looking at old high school pics. You look exactly the same! You are so gorgeous, no wonder Rusty swept you up and didn't let you go in high school. I really liked high school but I'm still good friends with anyone who I'd want to talk to from high school anyway. I probably won't go to mine but then I guess I have five more years to think about it. Have fun!
I *love* the last picture. You are each making the cutest faces. Senior year looked like so much fun. I wish I had one!
Nice pics! You are so hot!
I'm so excited for you. You will have a blast! have tons of fun and be your crazy self!
I love it love it love it! I am excited you are going- and the big Rusto let you do it... I will, of course have to come up with some lie that will take us to Mesa, and get us to the freakin place, and then, one we are through the door I will break the news- any heads up and he will ditch me. Big Dork! I am excited Rusty and Steve will be there to soften the blow!
oh my gosh!!! i love the picture of you and rusty right before he left on his mission!!! that is classic!!!!! we need to get our families together sometime! it would be soo fun (that is if you can handle my super loud & whiny baby!!!!)
How lovely are all of those?!?!?!? Ha ha those were scary to look at. We had fun times didn't we!!! I am still trying to talk myself into going. We shall see!
I know you know I went, I also agree you will have a great time! It is so fun to catch up and see what everyone is up to, you'll regret on going. I know I was going back and forth, but everyone had a lot of fun, the night wasn't long enough.
