Oh my lands. I know my son Berkley has an arm that can hurl anything he wants to through the air, but does he HAVE to use it???? Lately defensive driving has taken on a whole new meaning. If it is in the backseat, and he can reach it, at some point in the drive it WILL become airborne. I have never really appreciated how effective the headrest can be in preventing serious head trauma, you know, the kind that results from being hit in the back of the head by a sippie cup. I have often been heard telling family or friends about the chicken nuggets in my hair, or cars rolling around my feet. Most don't believe me, so I casually invite them for a little drive, and generally at its conclusion, they also become exceedingly grateful for the protection of the headrest.
It is one of those catch 22's. Do I take everything away from him and have him holler in the car. Or, do I give him things to play with and hope they stay behind me and enjoy a quiet car ride. I can not tell you the number of times I have pulled into my driveway to reach up onto the dash board and clear away a number of debris. Chapstick, sunglasses, cell phones (real & fake), fishy crackers, shoes, water bottles, pizza (partially eaten, of course), Little People, Cars... honestly and that was just the things I could think of lately! The latest victim of his lobbing arm was Rusty's sis Kelcie who surprised us all (and scared me half to death) when she hoped on a plane and came home for Rusty's BDay and cause she missed her cutest nephews. Bet ya didn't think he would throw something at you, did ya, K? Doesn't matter how much he loves you, he will still try and hit you with something...
So I am really thinking, $26.99 is a steal for some much needed protection... Am I wrong???

Oh Caryn, that is too funny!! First thing I thought of is 'do you need to clean your car:)? J/K. Anyway, he sounds like he is about the same age as my two little ones. They haven't done the car throwing thing yet. Just in the house. It can be deadly. I bet they would all get along great!!
Kellyann, you kill me. I swear I do clean out my car...every now and then, at least. I just don't know where everything comes from, hidden compartments in his booster maybe?!
I love the net. Money well spent!
Nice!!
Hilarious! We take a lot of abuse as mothers, don't we! Tell Rusty you need a raise!
That is so funny! My kids don't throw things (knock on wood) but I have wished several times that I had a roll up window thing like they have in Limo's to block the sounds of whining and screaming and fighting... oh sweet silence!
i can't believe they really make that?! i have to say, i've never had things thrown at me, well in the car anyway. and i love that you get chicken nuggets in your hair. maybe once oscar is a bit older i'll be able to relate. i guess girls really are more passive. and i also have dreamed about having a limo window/partition that i can roll up and drive in silence. aren't kids so fun?!
Caryn, By the way, I love the net. To bad they don't block out sound!!!
Forrest loves to throw things at me too and I have to keep telling him that if he doesn't stop it could cause us to get into an accident and we might have to go to the hospital (he hates hospitals), which although it's quite the scare tactic, it works sometimes. However, now that I know about the net...
Ha, that is hilarious! I like the net, but agree that the limo window thing would be fantastic sometimes!
Man, I have had many a black eye from flying sippy cups. I actually started forbidding my kids to bring cups and toys in the car because all they do is chuck them at me for entertainment or for emphasis during a tantrum. My boys luckily have outgrown it, I'm sure Berkley will soon too! Until then I'm with Kellyann - clean all the stuff out of your car so he doesn't have anything to throw and only have soft things that don't hurt when they slam into your face - like a squishy ball, cloth book, etc. Good luck, hopefully he'll be through this stage soon!
I love this! I am laughing so hard right now, because I can totally relate:) I seeriously need to grab one for myself!
And tell Rusty Happy Belated B-day!
That is so funny. Kyle use to throw water bottles. Not at me, just to the front. But it would scare me to death.
Wow what a ride! I guess Hollyn singing in the back of my car at the top of her lungs isn't that bad.
Hahaa that is hilarious! Totally worth the money. I still wish they would do a limo window in suvs so us moms can have some peace and quiet while driving!!
I'm so lucky you had two boys before me so I can learn from your experience. Should I just buy the net now?
This had me laughing so hard and reminded me of many times I have experienced the same thing. The best one was the bouncy ball... because it kept boucing around off the windows, my head, the steering wheel... LOL! Kids... aren't they great!!!!
LOVE IT! I tried the whole "clean out the car" bit, but then my kids starting taking off the shoes and socks and throwing them!
That is too funny, and it sounds like that net is just what you need. Addison hasn't started to throw things in the car yet, maybe it's because she is a girl.
Will someone please tell Rusty that even though it would look dumb I need that net... even if it is meant for pet owners, boys are the same right? But for now I am with out my net...
Genious!! So far I have not had anything thrown at me. I would for sure get this though!
ps this is Shanon, i'm signed in under jared
thats great. i love it. hell start throwing things that will fit through the little holes though :)
