Shock, shock, Rusty pulled off his third straight win in our family weight loss competition. He and his dad Russ were fighting it out pound for pound, point for point and it was so close, only 5 pounds separated them! In total Rusty lost 43 pounds and has spent the last few days trying to put some back on! Good job to Jill & Ryan who tied for third, and then me (11 pounds), Cindi and Bill. So, that means we have a new...
Wii at our house! Hurray! We also got a few games for Christmas and some more controllers, and we have been having a blast. Braden is ridiculously good at bowling, that kid can get three strikes in a row without trying. This is a big moment for me personally, because I have never, ever owned a Nintendo before. I know. Heck, my parents didn't even have cable till 2 years ago!
But, the best surprise came the day after the weigh in, on Christmas Day.. After all the gifts were opened Russ and Cindi brought out a few more boxes...

Everyone got
Wii's! We all worked super hard to change how and what and how much we are eating as well as being more active. They were so proud of all of us that they couldn't let the rest go unrewarded. (Don't worry, Rusty got a few extra games and accessories to make it fair). Needless to say the couches have been moved out and we have been
Wii'ng till the wee (
hah-
hah) hours of the morning. Since most of us didn't meet our goal weights yet, we are gonna extend the contest till this summer when we go on our trip! (More to come on that in another post...)

Losing weight is hard enough and to do it during Christmas time is an even bigger accomplishment. Good job! I want to buy John a WII!
Way to go Rusty! That is so fun and how awesome that you all got Wii's! Brian got a Wii for Christmas and is seriously addicted to Guitar Hero (I am almost regretting the present but it makes him so happy). Well, I am impressed with your hard work and determination!
WHAT A FUN FAMILY TRADITION YOU HAVE STARTED!! SEEMS TO BE A GOOD WAY TO KEEP THE EXTRA LBS. OFF DURING THE HOLIDAYS!! CONGRATS TO RUSTY!! LIKE HE REALLY NEEDED TO LOSE THAT MUCH WEIGHT!
Holy Cow!!! Congrats to you all, but Holy Cow Rusty looks sooo skinny! Have fun with your Wii!
Till the wee hours of the morning....what a clever punster you are Caryn! Congrats to Rusty! We will all have to get together and play sometime. JJ's a pretty mean bowler too-bowled a perfect game! I am awful at all of it...especially tennis. And forget about Guitar Hero!
Woo hoo!! Hope you are having so much fun bowling and playing Wii golf :) Congrats to Rusty and you on the pound shedding. We totally need to do try some competition like that in my family.
My parents have your parents beat. They still don't have cable. They did get Nate a Wii for his b-day this year though. Tell Rusty congrats! Kyle is really good at bowling too.
Ha ha Cara. That's so true about her parents - remember in Jr. High, gosh and elementary school how they didn't have call waiting?? I would have paid for them to have it back then! The line was ALWAYS busy!
Anyways, congrats on the 11 lbs, that's awesome! And super congrats to Rusty, although he looks like he needs a giant pumpkin cheesecake all to himself - 67% fat, most of that saturated too (if you remember my post from a little while back, you will cry with me). Love ya Caryn! Thanks for the texts and sweet comments about Tate.
Way to go! I love the bowling game also.
Congrats! That is so cool. What have you guys been doing to lose the weight? I'm sure eating less and exercise? I want to know your secrets! Happy New Year!
Rusty's weight loss secret is pure will power. Honestly. He has just been running 30 miles or so a week, lifting and totally watching what he eats!
That is so awesome! Way to go guys!
