If you are like us, every Friday night you sit in the car in the driveway trying to decide where to go out to eat. Our conversations usually starts like this, "Do we want to sit down or drive through?" or "What did you have for lunch this week?" Generally, we leave it up to Braden to decide. So, last night I decided to go to one of our newer favorite places, and we invited Rusty's parents and my parents to come along. We had great food, two very tired (one fell asleep) boys and a fabulous dessert. So I thought to myself, I should put together a list of places I like to go, because we a famous for introducing new places to our families. So here goes:Favorite Sandwich places:
Favorite Mexican
Favorite Pizza Places
Favorite Chinese
Favorite Eateries (variety of foods)
Sautee
Favorite Burger Places
Just for Desserts
Coldstone Creamery
Golden Spoon
So in addition to "Curb Side" to go, almost every restaurant these days will let you place your order online and tons of places deliver. My favorite places to take the kids to eat include:
1. Jason's Deli, where they get free dum-dum's and there is a free soft serve machine (it helps to entice them to eat a good meal). Plus they feature an organic menu, which is a nice change.
2. Boston's, this place has a great kids menu and they even bring around a treasure chest with toys in it for the kids to pick from, oh, and their meal comes with a cookie.
3. BJ's, the menu for kids is good, but get them the pizza. It is so yummy- and there should be enough for you to get a bite too! And you have to {try} to save room for the dessert Pizooki's, they are ooey gooey goodness... If you feel a little crazy, try the pizooki platter.
4. Picnic Company, they have a kids PB&J and they even cut off the crust, plus the yummy homemade brownies, cookies and rice crispy treats.
5. In N Out, although they don't have a kids menu, the burgers aren't so big a kid couldn't eat one. Order it without the spread, or get a grilled cheese (yep they do that too) and don't forget to get some stickers and ask for a paper hat, it should buy you a few minutes of entertainment...
Now I know a lot of these yummy establishments are local only, but many of them (Boston's, Jason's Deli and BJ's) have locations in tons of other states! Try it, you'll like it! And finally, my last food hint... Check your local Chic-Fil-A's for their Monday night promotions. We visit the one at Power/Ray, and every Monday night they have a special where with every combo meal you buy, you get a kids meal free. And, as if that weren't good enough, they always have some sort of activity. We have been there for a balloon maker, the fire department came, bounce houses, free ice cream, trains on display.. oh, the list goes on and on. They usually have a calendar for the month and it's all free! So tonight, if you can't decide where to go, I hope I left you with some Food for Thought. Gee, I am funny...
If I have forgotten any places, and I am sure I have, leave a comment.
Where is your favorite place to go???
And Kelcie, this is what was left of our Pizooki Platter, where were you when we needed you!!!

I might of missed it but where did you end up going last night that had a pazookie! I am a sucker for pazookies and have to know where to get one next time I am in AZ!
That is so not fair. Promise me when I come down in a couple weeks that we'll go there!
Ok Caryn! I miss home just for all the good places to eat! When we come to visit our trip revolves around where we are going to eat. Nandos is our FAV. Do you get the chili con queso? If you never have your missing out.
Oh yes...I LOVE PAZOOKIES!! They are my absolute favorite desserts. Most of the places on your list are exactly what I would have put, although a great new favorite mexican place is the Gecko Grill I mentioned in a post. They are so good! This is making me hungry. We should have a GNO soon with a girl movie and pazookie platter!! We all deserve it right?
I LOVE pazookies too. We make them homemade sometimes too (very naughty I know!). We love all of the same places. We probably eat at Pei Wei, Sushi and Chipotle the most. Pei Wei has the best tofu dishes & yummiest salads ever. We just had Chipotle last night :) Thanks for making me hungry...Can't wait to move to AZ for some of our missed favs like Costa, In N out, Mattas & Gecko Grill :)
I love going out to eat way too much! I love your list, but you forgot Cheesecake Factory which is my favorite. And I judge many places by the dessert and absolutely love BJ's because of the Pizookie! Oh yummy.... I love to go to old standby's but I also think it is so fun to find new places and try new things. Especially ma & pa type joints that you can't find everywhere.
thanks for rubbing in the fact that I didn't get one of you semi-homemade pazookies when it was your night to cook at the Bird. And of course we have no BJ's. Now I may have to give in and screw up my trying to not have chocolate every hour of every day, and figure out how to make one myself.
That's just swell!

At least we have the Training Table to eat at when ever we want, so there!
Great list, but what no Rumbi Island Grill? Is there one in AZ? You have to buy those skookie cast iron skillets so you can make your own pazookies at home! Maybe you already have them.
Oh, you missed Fuddrucker's, it is the BEST for burgers! And Oregano's for Pizza. Love love Chipotle, hmmm I'm getting hungry!
When I saw that Barro's was still your favorite pizza I couldn't help but smile. I *totally* remember going to Barro's with you all the time. Whenever we went to lunch together, you *always* wanted to go to Barros. Sophomore year your sister would pick us up and we'd head straight to Barros. Good times.
I agree with The Shirley Family. Rumbi Island Grill is SOOOO BLASTED GOOD. And the pictures of the pazookies, or whatever they're called, look too yummy. I'd love to have a recipe to make them homemade, if anyone can get it to me. I'm a sucker for desserts.
That looks yummy!! Thanks for the ideas! Cant wait to try some new places!
Thanks for that informative post. I totally agree with your choices! Yummy!
Caryn, it's hard as anything to find the "comment" section on your blog, so I just clicked on everything that mentioned comments, and finally got in on this one! You do such a good job of blogging. Just hope you're keeping a copy of this off the web for posterity's sake. This is much more interesting than the regular old journal. Loved the video of Berkley, even though we saw some of it the other day! Also loved the pazooki...
k this is making me very hungry and jealous! i miss all the good food there. i love nellos, barros, costa vida, all them!
Thanks for the freshing idea of eatin places. We too take FOREVER to finally pick a place. We love a lot of your favorites but now need to try a couple more. I wanted to add I had a delic sandwhich and smoothie the other day from Tropical Cafe Smoothie, you can call ahead there too! I love that, especially with kido's!
I didn't even read this, but I am posting a comment because looking at this food is making me want to barf... Can you ask your father-in-law for me why in the world I can't keep anything down with this pregnancy?! Just kidding, but really, I will read this post in a couple of months but I wanted to let you know that I was here on your blog and thinking of you.
