Last night Braden woke up in pain. The kind where you check to see if he was stabbed or has broken a bone in his sleep- that kind of pain. I rubbed his legs, got him Motrin and a hot bean bag and had to listen to him whimper till he fell asleep. That is so NOT fun! He gets them every few months for a night or two. I wish there was a way to tell that they are coming so I could give him the medicine before he goes to bed. Bless his heart, he usually doesn't remember the whole ordeal the next morning- I swear last night he was still asleep through our conversations!
I wonder if the cooler weather is playing some role, or if it is just another growth spurt. Aside from making a much bigger bean bag, anyone have any suggestions?

Unfortunately, I have no clue! Poor little guy! I really feel for him. I don't know if weather affects it or not . . . I broke my little toe a few months back, and now it always hurts when it turns cloudy or rainy. Even when it snowed yesterday. So who knows, for him maybe the weather makes it worse!
Okay, call me crazy but a friend of my cousin's suggested rubbing alcohol. She wet cottonballs and rubbed the hips and knees. My cousin swears by it now. Crazy I know...I'll Google it for you!
sounds like night terrors.
I wish I had some suggestions! I think wherever you got those genetics is the same place I got mine. No fun.
I had them too, and gave them to my daughter. It sounds crazy, but sometimes it is milk related. I remember getting some relief when I took some kind of lactaid pills when I had too much milk. I'll have to ask my mom what they were. Kind of preventative. Something about milk and bones. Kind of pay attention to when it happens and see how many milk products he has had that day. Or it could be totally unrelated. They are excruciating, I feel for the poor kid:(
They run in my family as well and I have passed them on to both of my kids. UGH! We get them quite a bit. My 8 year old loves Icy Hot or Ben Gay rubbed on his legs. With Pajha I just have to give her meds and rub her leg until she falls asleep. No fun. These are NOT night terrors. My son gets those too and they are VERY different and VERY scary. I have wondered if it is milk related though. If you figure that out let me know.
Kyle is always telling me that his legs hurt. Every time my kids get sick, a runny nose, growing pains, anything my mother in law tells me not to give them milk. I personally don't think that is it, but every kid is different. Milk is suppose to make them grow? Who knows.
We feel your pain! We get them too and our relief comes from motrin & a heating pad too. I wish there was some sort of indication too! I did hear something about aspercream(sp) but have yet to try that. Goodluck buddy!
I am totally diggin' the boys costumes! Great choice!
And I LOVE the decorations that you made! Way cute:)
My two younger girls get those nasty growing pains, too. The only thing that seems to help them is Motrin and bananas. Sometimes, just the extra potassium in their diet does the trick. I'm not sure it will work, but it's worth giving it a shot, right?
Thank you for the post. It never clicked with me...not that much does...but Briaunna is 6 as she complains at night of her legs aching really bad quite often.
tell braden I feel his pain. the only thing that worked for me was icy hot and rubbing the legs until I finally fell back to sleep
