1. A Hit Counter. I use blog patrol, but there is site meter and tons of other free ones. The thing like about blog patrol is it lets me see who is coming to my blog, how many visitors a day, whose blog they got here from (they call them referrers) ect. I can also see that most of my hits come between Midnight and 1 am, and it makes me happy that I am not the only one who blogs late at night!!! So try it out. You can even make it so the counter doesn't actually show up on the blog in case you don't want that much info. There are also live traffic ones, that show up right as people jump to your page, pretty cool, but frankly they freak me out.

2. A Google Reader account. Since you already probably have a Google account if you use blogger, get a Google Reader account. This handy tool will change your blogging life. No joke. You just add the addresses of all the blogs you read, stalk, hop and every time they are updated, IT TELLS YOU! No more randomly clicking on links to see if your friend ever had her baby or sold their house. I know there are a few other sites that do this too, but the Google one was just really easy to use. You read it all from one page, and then if you want to comment you just click and it wisks you away to the blog! I have heard it called a TiVo for the internet. How funny.
3. Future Date Posting. This is a cool new feature blogger just added. I love it. It basically let's you date things for in the future. How cool is that. Imagine doing a birthday post, a few days ahead, and setting the date and time you want it to show up, and magic *POOF* it will show up that day. I like this for b days, anniversaries, or if you are a faithful blogger who is going out of town, you can post stuff while you are away from your computer. Just click on the post options when you are creating your post, or read more about it on blogger.
Those are just a few of my tricks, let me know if they help or if you have any great ones I missed! Happy Blogging...

Thanks for the tips! I will have to check out the hit counter. Another new trick from blogger is you can put live feeds of blogs in your sidebar. You can also embed your comment form now so that people don't have to go to a new page to comment-the box just pops up right below your post.
Have fun on the cruise!
Oh I forgot-the embedded comment and blog feeds might still be only in Blogger Draft, so to do that you have to access your dashboard from http://draft.blogger.com/home. They were still in draft when I added them but I haven't checked whether they've been released in general yet. On draft.blogger.com you can also see other fancy new gizmos and tricks they are developing.
What are you doing?? Are you not on vacation!!! You are the go to girl for blog tips. Are you blogging from the boat or land? I hope you're having so much fun, can't wait to hear all about it and see all your pix!
By the way.... your house is looking good! Your housesitters look like they've got ya covered!
I could really use that future dating feature. I actually tried it awhile ago and it still didn't work, so I am anxious to try it again. Thanks for all the fun info.
I love google reader. I spend way less time checking blogs and more time trying to get crap done. Only think I hate about it is that I feel like I don't leave as many comments anymore.
Those tips sound fun. I'll try them out.
I'll have to try those tips. (Except the blog patrol, since you've had me on that for a while)
Thanks for posting this. It was really useful, and I plan on putting a site meter on my blog soon. I keep meaning to do it, but just can't seem to remember whenever I'm on the blogs.
Wow thanks for keeping me up on all the new tricks. Im so sslowww.We got that guitar hero ds too.We love it! Have a blast on your trip!!
Thanks for the tips. I would like to see who stops by my blog, it will help me with the whole "should i go private" issue. So thanks for the tips!
I loved the tips too. I tried the google reader thing and it's way cool. It doesn't work for my private blogs but I'm assuming that it's because they need a password and stuff. Love it.
