I guess as I feel my free time will soon be a distant memory, I have done a LOT of reading this summer. So just like last summer, I am posting my summer reading list. I love getting recommendations- even if I may take a while to get to them. If you aren't a member of goodreads yet, sign up. It's like an online book club, I love it!

I started off by re-reading all the Dan Brown books- Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons and the two books I like the best of his-- Deception Point and Digital Fortress. He has a new book coming out in September, that is the third installment with Robert Langdon, that I am sure I'll find time for.

Then I finally got around to reading the "Uglies" books. I have heard good things about them for over a year now and finally got them. I read the first two at Lake Powell and the last two in Utah. They are youth fiction set hundreds of years in the future and have a great story line. I really recommend them. All of the books are quick, clean reads - try them, you'll like 'em! Uglies, Pretties, Specials and Extras.
Another book caught my attention because of a movie preview I saw for it, so I picked up The Time Traveler's Wife and read it in Colorado. The storyline was good, although I can't wait to see the movie so I don't have to edit scenes and words in my head. It's so nice of the screenwriters to do that for me...

Then, I did a little book swap with my friend Ami, and got a bunch more books I hadn't heard of. I know I am a little slow but I finally read Hunger Games and I am elated that the sequel comes out in September! Catching Fire had better be good! If you haven't read this- pick it up, well worth it. I have three more books from Ami to read- The Thief, The Queen of Attolia and the King of Attolia; and I am bound and determined to read them before Baby comes.
And finally, since I think the thicker the book the longer it will take me, I started the Inkheart Trilogy. Each of these books are about 800 pages, yet I am already on the final book, and I just started them Sunday. Oops, I guess my speed reading goes into hyper drive when I am prego! I did watch the Inkheart movie, and I would say this too falls under the category of "book was WAY better than the movie." So again, because I like 'youth' books, add Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdealth to your queue.
Then there is one more book I can't wait for September for, it's a new Nicholas Sparks book called The Last Song, and I am sure it will be a tear jearker like his others!

I'm actually going to comment this time instead of just telling you in person. First off..Holy cow! I can't believe how many books you have read. I thought I would read a bunch this summer and it just hasn't happened. I have The Hunger Games on hold at the library since I have heard of bunch of great things about it. I also am going to put Uglies and Pretties on hold as I've heard several things about those as well. Thanks for the reviews. Have you ever read "The Great and Terrible Beauty" series? I enjoy the youth books as well.
Deanne and I were just discussing books since she has been doing a lot of reading while her & Marion have been up north this summer. She recommends The Wednesday Letters and I believe "The Choice." My cousin is looking into reading TTW (hopefully before seeing the movie) along with Sarah's Key.
Yay for reading!
I didn't know Nicholas Sparks has a new one coming out. I'll have to read that for sure!
Thanks for all these suggestions. I'll have to look into getting a few of them!
I will have you let me know if the The Lost Song is good. Hey, make sure you send me a text when that little boy of yours decides to come into this world!!
This is great! Exactly what I need. I'm going to get on Amazon today and buy a few of those. Thanks!
Uglies was a fun series. My family all went through them at the beach house last year. But I never got to the last one because I heard it wasn't as good as the others. Was it? And my sisters have been trying to get me to read Time Travelers Wife for years now. But I haven't. One scene in there seems way to wierd for me. Your opinion: not too wierd? Not too sexual? etc.
Wow! How do you find the time to read? Please tell me your secret. I have been wanting to read these books on Mountain Meadows, the apostasy, and all the first, second, etc. "thousand year" books, and I've been sitting somewhere in the middle of the 1st Prelude to Glory book for about 3 years now...I miss my reading time!
Oh man I wish I loved to read as much as you do. Well maybe I will have to try one of your suggestions.
I've actually not read any of those books you listed - so it gives me some ideas! Thanks! For me, I'm more likely to have more reading time once the kids go back to school. We're running too much in the summer! And, school is almost here, unfortunately, so maybe I'll have a spare minute or two . . .
