I Couldn't help Myself...

I did it. I opened it.  I succumbed to the pressure of having that dang box stare at me from all over my house.  It was like it had eyes following me.  I would walk out of my room and it would call at me from the windows by the front door, I would walk from the kitchen to the office and it would beg me to take it out of the heat.  I resisted for two weeks, TWO! Poor box, poor mis marked, delivered to the wrong house box.  It was feeling neglected.

I want it to be known that I have tried and tried to get FedEx to pick up the dang heavy, big, calling my name box, THREE TIMES actually.  And they even called me once about it.  Each time I was promised that the driver of my route was coming by to get it that day.  Uh huh.  And short of taking it to the FedEx store and paying to ship it back to Amazon myself (since the address is wrong, duh, that's how we got in this situation in the first place) or flagging down the dang driver who passes by my house every morning (is he just too lazy to stop???) I am giving up.  I even mapquested to see if I could find the address and it just doesn't exist.  FedEx can come to me, but I am no longer going to them.  I have given it a valiant effort.

Funnily enough, I had to mail something to my sister in Utah so I headed to the UPS store by my house.  Now, I mail quite a few teeny tiny packages (of my jewelry) so the guy that owns the place remembers me--(I wonder if it was from my Christmas Eve mad dash into his store to overnight something???)-- anyways, I get to asking him, who's in the 'biz', what I should do. He told me that if it was dropped at my door, it is mine.  He also told me he doubted they would ever come get it since, more than likely, the person who ordered it had already filed a complaint about not getting it and had a new package sent.  As I am leaving, laughing, and remembering just one more reason I love UPS so much more than FedEx or even DHL, he says, "Just open it, if you don't like it sell it on Ebay."  Geez, I like that guy.
Truth be told, I feel weird getting something dropped at my door and thinking it's mine when my name isn't on it. So, I will be contacting FedEx one more time, and then I am waiting till it has been a month or more and then I will deem it my property.  And don't try to be funny and say  'Oh, it's my package', because remember, I know the name on the box.  And I won't be selling it on Ebay.  'Cause I am keeping what was in the box, all three of 'em...

At least until we figure out which family member to give each of them to.  I don't need one, anyways, I got one for my birthday.  The Amazon Deities are smiling at me.

You've got to be KIDDING me! Ha ha! I laughed so hard at what was in the box! How come that never happens to me? :)

Awesome! You'll have to let me know how you like it. You are one lucky girl.

If you are having trouble getting rid of them you can send one my way.

Don't feel bad, I'd opened that dang thing too! After waiting the appropriate time, of course. (Note the sarcasm?) Anyway, I know that if you do get to keep them, you'll do the nicest thing for your very preggo sister & give her one! After all, I'm gonna have some serious weight to lose! And I know you'd want to help me in any way you can!

I would be "willing" to take one off of your hands and get my booty back into shape. Ha ha ha... all I know is you are one lucky little thief (I am using the term very loosely). I got a box left once on my door step burning. It was just cow poop. You can imagine my surprise when I tried to stomp it out. I guess I know where I stand with the "deities".

Wow, you waited longer than I would. I would make one last ditch effort and call Amazon. If I didn't have it picked up at my house a week later, it would be mine. It is the law, right? And, by the way, we are planning on getting one of those for Christmas anyway, so we will PAY you for it! A good cause (my pregnant booty) AND money! It doesn't get any better than that;)

That story is so ironic because I just ordered three of those from Amazon. They were supposed to be here last week and never showed so I finally just filed a complaint. Just kidding! Amazon's loss. Or maybe Fed Ex's? Lucky You.

Um....my birthday is next month. Just sayin'......

Seriously, you are so lucky! I have been wanting Wii Fit since before it came out!! They are almost impossible to find. Mom says she'll buy one from you (but I don't know if she's serious)

We're hanging out here with Mom and Dad in St. George...signing life insurance policies and going to see Les Miserables. Fun stuff!!

NO way..... that is crazy! Well I am glad you finally opened it! I can't believe what was in it though, crazy! I am sure that Amazon has already reshipped the customer a new order! Have fun giving those away, people are gonna LOVE you! (even more)

WHAT?! You are so lucky. I too can help you out if you need to find a good home for one. I promise I would take good care of it & give it lots of love & playtime. You should do a drawing for one on your blog! Or an auction or something.

Okay, I just have to say that I am not going to be one of the many petitioning for their birthright to a copy of Wii Fit. I have an X-Box 360, but I will cross my fingers. Maybe a box with 3 copies of Rock Band 2 will show up at my door. I could make a Rock Band band with the people I gave them to. It'll never happen.

I don't know how you waited 2 weeks. I read your post about it before, and it had me dying to know what was inside the box. Nice! Good thing it wasn't some early holiday sweaters or something!

OH MY GOSH. See, you did the right thing by trying so hard over and over and over, and resisting so long... And now you're rewarded! Crazy. Somehow, every box that comes to my door has a bill attached to it in my name...

rachel said...

NO WAY. i imagined it being some grandma clothes or something that wouldn't be worth keeping or selling. how in the world did you luck out on such a huge scale?! three? i hope i get a box by mistake now too.

Amanda said...

That is so funny! Lucky, lucky! (Now they'll probably show up to get it, now that you don't want them to, right?)

No way! I have been wondering whatever happened to that package! I think you have given it quite the effort and deserve something for all the work...what a reward! Who would have guessed that's what was in there:)
