The "Bird" 2011...

I can not even tell you how happy I was to be able to get out of the heat of the desert for a week and escape to our condo at Snowbird.  We saw old friends, lots of family, and even met some new ones! We played shuffleboard, ate huge family dinners and swam. We celebrated the 4th of July, and nearly got taken out by a rouge firework. We enjoyed the views of the SNOW, and relaxed. Here's a recap!

Eleven Years!!!

 Before I get to the Snowbird post I have to mention that on June 30, Rusty and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary.  We had a nice dinner at Kona Grill and then we saw the new Transformers movie. It is always nice to get  time to ourselves. I also got surprised with an unexpected gift!

A Dyson Slim! I have been drooling over one of these ever since I saw it. I have been lugging out my regular Dyson nearly daily to clean up the wood floors after the boys- now I have this quick lightweight one! And it comes all apart and is perfect for cleaning out the car. It is sad, but I really, really, really do love my vacuums. But not nearly as much as I love the man that gives me them!

Back from the Bird...

We took our annual trip to Utah for a stay at the condo. It was fun, I still have to unpack and put the laundry away, so until I find my cameras, here are my top memories of the trip...

#5 was supposed to be pancakes from Kneaders, but they RAN OUT! So I settled for a yummy cinnamon roll (thus no picture)
#6 was lunch at The Junction in Kanab, but I was too hungry from the traveling to wait to take a picture before I dug in! Oops! I love the BLT, and Rusty gets the Big Red burger. Yum-O!

Nearly Done...

Well, we finally have the rooms and most all of the boys' stuff in their new rooms. I still have a lot of finishing to do, but for the most part we are good to go when B4 comes.

 First off I had a little bit of refinishing to do on Braden's bed. It has been in storage since we put them in bunks when we had Brenner. Luckily, only the foot board took the brunt of his toddlerness and the rest just needed a good scrub down.

 Here's Braden's new (Brenner's old) room. I have to put a few more accessories up, but it is basically done.

 We even let him put the old PS2 in there. I have to paint that little desk, but that is a project I'll tackle when it isn't 120* out.

 I have to pat myself on the back. You see when we took my office apart, there were quite a few marks on the walls from heavy things I had hanging. Couple that with not having any decor to put in the baby's new (Brenner's current, and my old office) and I had to get crafty. Two trips to Hobby Lobby and a visit with my sis in law's Cricut and here was the result.

The baby's name, when we finally pick one, will go above the crib, and I am toying with the idea of a large vinyl saying from Dr. Suess's "Oh the Places You'll Go" along the top of this wall.

And finally, the fate of my precious pink scrapbook bookcase. It is gonna stay where it is- but I found a super cute bold stripe fabric to make a slipcover for it. Saves me having to sand, prime and paint it when we still aren't sure what to do with it. Oh yea. and I have to boy up the shelf. No more roses and hearts LOL. But I can rest at night without feeling frantic about getting it all done. Now it is just the small stuff. Now my nesting is being focused on our room and downstairs.... Yikes.

A Quick Powell Trip...

Last week we ran up to our houseboat for 4 beautiful days on Lake Powell.  There were only a few of us, and the weather was unusually COLD, which meant the water was COLD. But we had fun, and got to see the Robison family a lot while we were there. Here are the highlights!

 Brenner was so good on the boat, as long as he had his hat and glasses.

 The boys loved helping Pops drive the boat.

 We enjoyed our visits at Robison's houseboat. They had all kinds of fun toys. Braden loved the paddle boards. Russ and Rusty did not quite have the skills for it, and they got wet trying. It was so funny.

 Of course we wake surfed. And by 'we' I don't mean 'me'.  But Kelcie did.

 Russ did. And we even showed Blake how to.

 Rusty and Berk did.

 Blake got the hang of it quick. Ryan too.

 

 Father's Day we were stranded on the houseboat because of wind. It was too choppy to take the ski boat out. We had a nice steak dinner and tried to keep the monkey's from jumping off the walls. Literally. Brenner had more fun 'jumpy, jumpy, jumpy' than just about anything else. Monday we braved the cool (65*) weather to go out for a bit. It was freezing. We have never had to bust out the onboard heater before, but we were sure glad for it that morning!!!

 But we made it to visit the Robison's again, and this time Braden took the canoes for a spin.

 Rusty figured out the paddle board thing.

One final trip on the tube and we headed into the dock and packed up. It was a LONG drive home, Brenner does not love the car. Blake hitched a ride home with us and I am sure he was wishing for ear plugs about 20 minutes in. And somehow I ended up not getting a single picture of Braden wakeboarding, but we go back for a longer stay in a few weeks, so I am sure I will redeem myself.
